Goddess Scope 05: SCORPIO

Introduction to Goddess Scopes BY MONISHA HOLMES, MSW

Imagine a feminine force, long mistaken for hysteria, its depth misunderstood and its intensity misinterpreted as chaos. Scorpio, though traditionally ruled by Mars—a god of action, war, and primal drive—embodies a power that doesn’t operate through mere action but through a profound state of being. Scorpio responds to its environment not with premeditated strikes but with an emotional depth that lashes out when provoked, a quiet intensity that feels rather than acts. In the past, this feminine energy has been labeled as “too emotional,” “hysterical,” or “volatile,” when in reality, it speaks the language of the soul, responding to the weight and wounds of the world.

Scorpio’s power lies in this response—in knowing that feelings are truths, not mere reactions. When Scorpio loves, it loves deeply, navigating relationships as an alchemical journey, a space where transformation is constant. This is why Scorpio seeks connections that bring it peace and authenticity rather than drama or surface-level bonds. Every relationship Scorpio enters becomes a crucible for change, a place where it is both burned and reborn, shedding layers to uncover truer versions of itself.

When we consider Scorpio’s evolution from Mars to Pluto as a ruling planet, this sign takes on a new dimension. Mars pushed Scorpio to “do,” often against its natural rhythm. Mars demanded battle-readiness and fierce action, which many Scorpios interpreted as an external call to constantly fight, to hold armor against the world. But Pluto, associated with the underworld and transformation, allows Scorpio to embrace a quieter, more introspective path. With Pluto, Scorpio is given the freedom to “be” rather than to “do,” to conserve, to innovate from within, and to dive into the mysteries of life without the need to act for action’s sake.

Scorpio’s journey with Pluto is not about aggression but about renewal—embracing Gaia’s natural rhythms and surrendering to transformation. It doesn’t always know that it’s stepping off the edge into the unknown, only that it must. Scorpio’s crises aren’t chosen; they’re felt. In the throes of these crises, it burns through its own emotional landscapes, losing parts of itself only to emerge stronger, like the Phoenix rising from its own ashes. This journey into the underworld and back is the truest expression of Scorpio, who finds not fear but resilience in the darkness, reborn each time with a profound acceptance of both its own mystery and the mysteries of others.

About Scorpio

Scorpio is often misunderstood, its essence reduced to a stereotype of raw sexuality. In truth, Scorpio’s motivations run much deeper. Its connection to intimacy is not about mere physicality; it’s about transformation on a soul level. Ruled by Pluto, the planet of rebirth and profound change, Scorpio finds meaning in the emotional and psychological depths shared with another person. It’s not simply intercourse that transforms; it’s the intimacy—the closeness or lack thereof—that challenges Scorpio to re-evaluate, to reshape, and to dig into the core of their own psyche.

For Scorpio, every bond functions as a beacon, illuminating hidden parts of themselves that might otherwise stay buried. This zodiac sign doesn’t enter relationships lightly or aim for superficial encounters. Rather, Scorpio seeks connections that force them to confront their vulnerability, unearth their shadow, and embrace all the parts of themselves that others might fear to touch. Loyalty, for Scorpio, isn’t merely a virtue; it’s a necessity for the transformative power they crave. Without a foundation of trust, Scorpio’s need for depth cannot be met, and their inherent desire to evolve through others becomes stifled.

Contrary to popular belief, Scorpio does not crave drama or constant attention. Beneath the intensity often associated with this sign, Scorpio seeks relationships that bring them a sense of calm and serenity—a refuge from the turbulence they may have experienced growing up. Many Scorpios carry the weight of feeling alienated or misunderstood in their formative years, often feeling like the “odd one out.” Because of this, their deepest desire in relationships is not excitement but a quiet, unspoken acceptance.

Scorpio longs for connections that flow naturally, relationships where they don’t have to perform or force understanding, but rather, find a sense of being “seen” as they are. This acceptance is essential to Scorpio, allowing them to rest, to be vulnerable, and to explore their emotions without the need for defensive walls. When Scorpio operates from a healthy place, they don’t demand intensity from others—they crave sincerity, a relationship where trust is a given, and connection is effortless. In such spaces, Scorpio can truly let go and, in doing so, experience the peace and grounding they seek.

Zodiac Sign

Season: October 23 - November 21

Modality: As a fixed sign, Scorpio holds onto stability within transformation. Scorpio’s fixed nature, like a glacier, anchors us in stillness and offers a grounding force. When Scorpio operates from a place of abundance, it becomes a preserver—knowing how to conserve, adapt, and even upcycle. In many ways, Scorpio is the zodiac sign of upcycling, transforming what already exists into something valuable and new.

Element: Water in Scorpio’s domain is solid and intense, more like ice than a flowing river. Often misunderstood as intimidating or harsh, this stillness reveals depths of emotion hidden beneath. Scorpio’s water element is often misunderstood because it presents as a glacier: stoic, grounded, yet intensely powerful. While Scorpio’s emotions can be “frozen,” locking away energies, when it begins to thaw, it shifts from a solid to a cool spring, offering a transformative plunge similar to a cold plunge, which awakens, rejuvenates, and brings clarity to those who dare to immerse themselves.

Ruling Planet: With Pluto as its ruler, Scorpio transitions from the Martian urge to act to the Plutonian call to transform. Pluto’s influence aligns with Scorpio’s need to explore and renew, allowing the sign to embrace its feminine energy of being rather than doing. Under Pluto’s guidance, Scorpio dives deep, transforming through introspection rather than external force, becoming a guardian of mystery and resilience.

Noir Kala Archetype:

The Keeper is Scorpio’s archetype, embodying a profound respect for life’s esoteric knowledge, unspoken stories, and the symbols we carry forward. Scorpio understands the need to preserve, to honor, and to hold close the secrets, memories, and esoteric wisdom that may not yet be fully understood. While Scorpio may experience a vast range of emotions, it knows nothing is to be discarded lightly. The Keeper holds onto what others might overlook or dismiss, recognizing the importance of these fragments in telling a greater story. For Scorpio, keeping is not merely an act of possession but a commitment to protecting narratives, symbols, and experiences that may one day provide wisdom or give voice to those who have gone unheard. By holding space for these stories and preserving their essence, Scorpio becomes a guardian for the marginalized, a custodian for the lost or forgotten. The Keeper honors the sacredness of memory, ensuring that history and understanding are never bulldozed or erased but preserved, waiting for the right time to be told.

Tapping into Scorpio’s Goddess Energy

“Undoing is the beginning of revival.”

Symbolic Jewelry: Revival | Hoop Earrings (Price: $36 USD) Sometimes complex beings can be embodied by the simplest of symbols. Because of Scorpio’s mysterious aura, they then to stray away from being overly showy or overdramatic – even though there’s sultry stares may suggest a different story. For that reason the jewelry associated with Scorpio is the Revival | Hoop Earrings, due to how they represent’s Scorpios willingness to regenerate after being undone.

Social Practice: When reflecting on Scorpio’s energy the connection between upcycling and fixed expressions of energy became forever so clear. Setting aside a day in which you and your friends collectively decide to take one item and reimagine what it could be is a lovely way to hone into Scorpio energy. Better yet, once you’ve successfully upcycled your projects deciding to dawn them during a night out can truly reinforce your item’s rarity and your transformative powers.

Scorpio Season Ritual: Crafting a Transformative Perfume:

Scorpio’s energy is about honoring what has meaning, transforming what others might overlook, and preserving what is sacred. This self-care ritual invites you to create a personalized potion—a perfume or cologne that embodies Scorpio’s essence, made with elements that reflect your journey and intentions.

Instructions:

  1. Gather Your Flowers
Start by treating yourself to a bouquet that resonates with you. Spend time with it, appreciating its beauty and presence. Once the bouquet begins to fade, save the petals rather than discarding them—Scorpio finds value in transformation.
  2. Prepare the Floral Water
Rinse the petals gently, then fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil. Add the petals and allow them to simmer for five to ten minutes, releasing their essence into the water. Turn off the heat and let the mixture steep overnight in a jar or pot, allowing the water to absorb the flower’s full essence.
  3. Create the Base
In the morning, strain the petals from the water. You now have a base of floral water infused with the spirit of transformation. Take a moment to smell it, and reflect on what this scent evokes within you.
  4. Customize Your Scent
Based on the natural scent of your floral water, decide what to add to make it uniquely yours. If you enjoy warmth, add a few drops of coconut milk for a gentle, grounding sweetness. For an even more unique blend, look at perfumes or colognes you already own and consider adding a small amount to this base. Layering your favorite scent—like a touch of Versace or another cologne—creates something entirely new and uniquely yours.

Bottle and Bless
Pour your perfume into a bottle, setting an intention as you do. This potion is a reflection of Scorpio’s energy—a scent that transforms and preserves, holding the essence of what you value most. Apply it when you need grounding, clarity, or to embrace the energy of Scorpio season.
