Introduction to Goddess Scopes BY MONISHA HOLMES, MSW

To embody Sagittarius’ essence is to assume the role of the unapologetic truth seeker and speaker. Sagittarius is never satisfied by accepting inaccuracies or inconsistencies, armed with an insatiable thirst for the water of wisdom. Sagittarius energy represents a sometimes relentless pursuit of seeing the world as it is, not as it is manipulated to be. Being aligned with Sagittarius’s pathology requires a natural willingness to be comfortable with the uncomfortable and an acceptance of brutality sans sadism. In cultures in which pleasantries assume preference over transparency, Sagittarius energy experiences itself as frenzied. It finds itself confined in roles without a script and lacks the motivation to improvise. There is no fuel in dishonesty for Sagittarius; instead, it would assume the controversial professor’s role, bestowing unconventional perspectives even if it is at the expense of keeping the peace. To Sagittarius, there can be no true peace without genuine sense.

Ruled by the planet Jupiter, of expansion and abundance, Sagittarius often experiences itself as a lucky sign—though it may take them time to recognize their fortune fully. While Sagittarius’ association with the myth of Chiron is one of the lesser-told astrological fables, it is through Chiron that we can develop a more vital understanding of Sagittarian energy—the lore of the wounded healer.

In some notable myths, the half-human and half-horse Sagittarius is associated with the myth of Chiron. Chiron was the son of Cronus, the God of Time, and Philyra, an Oceanid. Therefore, the fiery energy of Chiron or Sagittarius was born from how the winds of time betrayed the resting water. His conception followed rejection, and Chiron was left with no parents until he was mercifully adopted by the God of Healing, Apollo, and the Goddess of Hunting, Artemis. Chiron developed an abandonment wound, which was later expressed through finding a sense of purpose by becoming a teacher. As his adoptive parents, Artemis and Apollo, taught him, Chiron became the wise and justice-oriented teacher of the Greek heroes Jason, Hercules, Asklepios, and Achilles. Chiron became so respectfully regarded that his brother, Zeus, commemorated him with the stars in the sky—the constellation Sagittarius.

The existence of Sagittarius, therefore, represents the willingness to rise above your circumstances, no matter how ugly, distressing, disturbing, or unlikely they are. Children born under the zodiac sign Sagittarius may be born with a chip on their shoulder; however, that same chip becomes the key to their divinity. By making the best of the worst possible circumstances, children of Sagittarius season can rise above their limitations and defy the gravity that leaves many of us grounded.

Though they may fall into traps of overcompensation, the Sagittarius Goddess energy is that of fruitful multiplicity. As Chiron became masterful in medicine, music, prophecy, and hunting, those born during Sagittarius were urged to follow their self-determined path of being people of the Renaissance.

About Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the embodiment of overcoming your circumstances. Unwilling to accept destiny or being defined by the nature of your origins, Sagittarius takes a proactive approach to pursuing their desires. Armed with a bow and arrow, Sagittarius is notable for identifying the subject of its fancy, aiming, and doing all that is humanly possible to bring about its idealized outcome. That is what makes Sagittarius a master of manifestation. Through seemingly endless trials and errors, Sagittarius becomes an expert on failure. Through less-than-favorable outcomes, Sagittarius becomes desensitized to the challenges that come with bravery. Understand me when I say Sagittarius is no stranger to fear. It is close friends with fear, disappointment, and heartache, which makes the Sagittarius season’s people seem so fearless.

Zodiac Sign

Season: November 22 - December 21

Modality: As a mutable sign, Sagittarius embodies the essence of adaptability and evolution. Mutable energy thrives in transitions, finding opportunities in change, and gracefully adapting to new circumstances. Sagittarius shows us that transformation is not a disruption but an integral part of growth. It seeks understanding by embracing diverse perspectives, learning from every experience, and valuing the journey over the destination. With Sagittarius' guidance, we are encouraged to release rigidity, open ourselves to change, and trust that our path is defined not by where we start or end but by how we navigate life's endless possibilities.

Element: Sagittarius is a fire sign, exuding a dynamic and transformative energy that is impossible to ignore. This fire burns with an eternal curiosity, driving Sagittarius to explore, create, and inspire. Unlike the steady warmth of a hearth or the destruction of an uncontrolled blaze, Sagittarius’ fire dances with purpose. It illuminates truths, ignites passions, and sets a course toward higher understanding. This element fuels Sagittarius’ relentless pursuit of adventure and discovery, serving as both a light in the darkness and a spark that kindles joy and connection. Its radiant energy is contagious, inspiring those around it to burn brighter.

Ruling Planet: Jupiter, the planet of expansion and wisdom, is Sagittarius' celestial guide. Representing boundless growth, Jupiter encourages Sagittarius to seek truth and meaning in every corner of existence. Its influence fosters optimism, granting Sagittarius an inherent belief in life’s possibilities and the courage to explore the unknown. This planet amplifies Sagittarius’ ability to connect the dots, synthesizing wisdom from diverse experiences to uncover universal truths. Jupiter's energy reminds Sagittarius that abundance lies not in accumulation but in the richness of learning, sharing, and evolving. It inspires Sagittarius to embrace the infinite, believing that the journey itself is the reward.

Noir Kala Archetype:

The Empress is Sagittarius’ archetype, representing the seeker of truth and the boundless source of wisdom. The Empress understands that life is a journey, not a destination; therefore, she evolves a sense of direction from her wanders. For Sagittarius, exploration is both external and internal—an endless quest for knowledge, connection, and personal evolution. The Empress is fearless, driven by curiosity and confidence rather than fear of the unknown. Whether venturing into new intellectual territories or physically charting unfamiliar landscapes, Sagittarius transforms every experience into an opportunity for growth. This archetype inspires others to break free from confines and discover uncharted paths. Sagittarius' Empress energy is a beacon of hope, a reminder that stepping into the unknown is where true wisdom resides.
